His images have won a number awards including the 2017 Wildlife Photographer of the Year, photojournalist category,
Bertie is particularly interested in human-animal conflict. Over the past decade he has lived with remote shark fishermen in Mozambique, been pursued through Madagascar’s sacred forests by the ‘tortoise mafia’, lived on-board a commercial tuna fishing vessel, reported on Borneo’s ‘Sea Gypsies’ and much more.
He also works as a dive photojournalist and has travelled extensively through Asia and Africa, producing features on Indonesia, Madagascar, Borneo, Mozambique, Malawi, South Africa, Zanzibar and Pemba, for many international dive publications.
